Hunza Batura Trek

Batura trek Hunza is especially recommended for those who intend to do short walks for one to five days. This trip is a fascinating experience of an easy stroll along with a flower-strewn gully between the lateral moraine of Batura Glacier and the mountains. It provides breathtaking views of high Peaks like Ultar (7388), Shispare (7611m), Passu peak (7284m), Karun Koh (7164m), and others in the Shimshal region. From Fatimahil you can have an unforgettable view of the formidable North face of Batura massif. After halfway between Kukhil and Guchsum is the wide plateau of Shelmin where the Urthum brook flows from the North. This is a much tougher route than Kilik or Mintaka but not a technical one. The scenery will simply sweep you off your feet.
60 Km long Batura Glacier, one of the longest glaciers, is nestled between some of the beautiful high mountains of the world. Most of the trek is an easy stroll along the flower-filled ablation valley between the lateral moraine and the mountain and includes a crossing of the glacier.

Batura Trek situated in the upper Hunza between the Batura glacier and Passu glacier at an altitude of 4170m, it’s a climb of 1500 m the moraine of Passu glacier. In a high point surrounded by high peaks of Shisper 7619m Passu Peak 7388m, Baltar Peak 7431m, and Batura one 7885m, Karoon Koh 7458m, Dastagil SAR, and Many 6000 m peak around you. The trek starts from Borit Lake of Gulkin village to Passugar, Luzdur, through summer pastures, beautiful high meadows with limestones.

Itinerary

Day-01: Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Welcome at Islamabad airport, and transfer to hotel. After refreshment proceed for city tour of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, which includes famous Faisal Mosque, Shakar Parian, Pakistan monument, Damen Koh, Lok Versa, Museum, Rawalpindi old bazaar, Raja Bazaar.

Day-02: Drive from Islamabad to Naran & Chilas

Drive to Naran 6-7 hours, 239 km, after lunch continue drive to Chilas 3-4 hours 113.3 km via Babusar Pass 4,173m.

Day-03: Drive from Chilas to Karimabad and Passu

Drive to Karimabad (Hunza) 6-7 hours. En-route stop at junction point of three great mountain ranges meet, the Karakorum, Himalaya and Hindukush, at Thalichi for photography from Nanga Parbat 8,126m and at Rakaposhi view point for photography and refreshment. Evening drive to Borith Lake for overnight

Day-04: Trek from Passu to Yunzben

Trek to Yunzben 11.5 km, 6-7 hours.
It takes about 6 to 7 hours walking on dusty trails at the snout of the huge Batura Glacier. The Batura is even longer than the famous Baltoro Glacier in the K2 region.

Day-05: Trek from Yunzben to Yashpirt

Trek to Yashpirt 6-7 hours 5.7km.
Today we diagonally cross the Batura Glacier. This is a tiresome day with lot of walking on rocks and the moraines of Batura. Yashpirt is a beautiful high meadow with many shepherd huts and fantastic views of the Batura peaks and the famous Batura ice fall across the glacier from us. We can also see Distaghil Sar (7,885 m.) from here. Distaghil Sar is the highest most western mountain in Trans-Himalayan and one has to go around the globe to come back to the eastern Himalaya to find such high peaks.

Day-06: Trek from Yashpirrt to FatimahIl & Kukhil

Trek to Fatimahil 4-5 hours 5.1 km, after lunch continue trek to Kukhil 2 hours 2.3km, with fine views of Batura group of peaks (7500-7785m).

Day-07: Free day Acclimatization

Free day for local exploration and acclimatization.

Day-08: Trek rom Kukhil to Guchesham

Trek to Guchesham 6-7 hours, A lovely series of small ablation valleys with abundant juniper, willow, birch and poplar guide you past a series of summer pasture settlements takes you to the highest settlement at Guchesham.

Day-09: Trek from Guchesham to Fatimahil

Trek back to Fatimahil.

Day-10: Trek from Fatima,il to Yashpirt

Trek back to Yashpirt.

Day-11: Trek from Yashpirt to Passu & Karimabad

Trek back to Yunzben, after lunch, continue trek to Passu and drive to Karimabad.

Day-12: Local visits in Karimabad & Altit

Morning visit Baltit Fort 700 Years and Altit Fort 900 Years old. Afternoon drive to Duiker valley thirty minutes arrive and transfer to hotel. An evening walk through the village to Holy shrines, today you will have opportunity to see many local people working in the fields. (Duiker valley is viewpoint to see the sunset and Sunrise over the beautiful mountains in the surroundings of Hunza). Duiker valley (Roof of the world), have a spectacular view down to Karakoram Highway and awesome views of Golden peak 7027m, Rakaposhi 7788m, Ultar Sar 7388m, Diran Peak 7266m, Lady Finger 6000m and Disteghil Sar 7885m.

Day-13: Drive from Karimabad to Naran

Drive to Chilas 5-6 hours, after lunch continue drive to Naran via Babusar Pass 115 km 3-4 hours. Arrive Naran transfer to hotel.

Day-14: Drive from Naran to Islamabad

Drive from Naran to Islamabad 239 km, en route stop at various viewpoint for photograph.
